Everyone hates the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I don't. I won't say I love, but I definitely enjoyed it.

First, why does everyone hate it? They hate it because the Turtles look really weird. Sure, they don't look like the Ninja Turtles in the most other media. But, that's okay. Their new designs feature things that make each turtle more identifiable. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. So, what if Donatello has some freaky looking nerd goggles? It fits in with his personality. It only serves to make him more identifiable to kids.

Speaking of personality, the Turtles have tons of it. Everytime the Turtles are on screen, it's an absolute joy. Their cool, their funny, and they are a lot of fun overall. The scene when they are sliding down the mountain side captures everything that I love about the Ninja Turtles. They are in danger, but they are having fun and being cool.

Another thing I hear as that they "screwed up" the origin story. All right, this is where my rant starts. How many different interations of the Ninja Turtles exist? There's a lot. There's the original comic. There's the original trilogy of movies. There's the live action television series. There's the 2000's animated series. There's even an anime!

The thing is, most of them have different versions of the origin story of the Turtles? So, what IS their origin story? I think it's perfectly appropriate that this movie features an original take on the origin story. Whether or not it's good or bad is not the point.

One of the most common negative comments comes in the form of Michael Bay and Megan Fox. It's okay, I agree here. There's a bit of influence from Bay in the film and Megan Fox is not at all interesting as April.

And as Turtle fans, shouldn't we be happy that they even GOT a new movie? This only serves as a chance for the franchise to continue to exist and even grow. The trailer for the sequel just came out and it looks absolutely fantastic. There's a lot more Turtle fun and it's even bringing back Rocksteady and Bebop from the original cartoon and they look great! Even one of my favorite characters, Casey Jones, is making a triumphant return.

I can't wait for the future of the Turtles. Knock, knock, you about to get shell shocked!
