Monster Hunter Main Theme
The Monster Hunter main theme is nothing short of epic. This song is the perfect fit for the game franchise that it represents. It expresses the incredibly massive scale of the game's world and its creatures. Every time the song hits the 30-second mark the desire for adventure courses through my veins and lights me on fire. It provides an incredible rush and reminder of all the adventures, close calls, and fierce encounters my friends and I have had in the world of Monster Hunter.
Nickel Creek - The Lighthouse's Tale
The Lighthouse's Tale is the story of a lighthouse watching sailors at sea. An unfortunate incident happens and the lighthouse's keeper kills himself. It may sound really morbid, but this song is strangely sweet. I really dig the bluegrass sound in this song. That mixed together with the vocals and story give this song a folky vibe. I think this song would appeal to more than just bluegrass enthusiasts. Also there is a mandolin. Mandolins rock.
Ben Folds Five - Draw a Crowd
Have you ever walked into a public bathroom only to find a bunch of simple phallic art all over the stalls? This song is funny to me because it's largely the opposite of how I've approached my life. Ben is making fun of himself a bit here. Draw a Crowd is about all the bands or people that weren't able to shoot into stardom or get the attention they wanted. Once it starts getting difficult, you do dumb things or say things loudly. In the case of the song, the solution was to "draw dicks on a wall". It contrasts me quite a bit as I've largely tried to stay out of any kind of spotlight growing up.
Clannad - Nagisa's Theme
Yeah, I know. I talked about Clannad in my previous blog post, but I can't help it. I love this series to death. This song is ambient and used as a background theme to the series. It's not so much the song as it is the meaning attached to it that makes me like it so much. It reminds me of the importance of family and always puts me into a good mood. With that, I like to put this song on when I'm stressed or feel like winding down.
Harmony of a Huner - Metroid Medley
Oh, look. Another video game related song. This guy is SO predictable. I know you all think that, but that's okay. I play this whenever I'm working on something and need to stay focused. It plays for 10-minutes. I use that to measure the progress I've made. This song makes me bounce to the beat while I work. So, I probably look ridiculous, but it keeps on task and motivated to work.
Well, that's my list. Maybe you'll like some of these. Maybe you won't. There's a lot of music.
